Tattoo Removal On Woman's Back

What Is Picosure Laser Treatment?

Picosure laser treatment is one of the newest tattoo removal technologies. Its function and operation are similar to previous lasers, such as the Revlite SI. However, it uses picosecond technology instead.

But what exactly does this mean for the customer?

We explore the advantages and disadvantages of choosing Picosure laser treatments.

The Pros and Cons of Picosure Laser Treatment

Pros

  • Faster

The Picosure laser treatment’s speed can affect you in two ways.

The first is in regards to the time of your session. The Picosure’s pulse duration is shorter, resulting in a faster finishing time. It may just be a matter of minutes, but for some, that time makes all the difference.

Additionally, it has been reported that fewer sessions are required when using the Picosure to eliminate your tattoos. Studies do vary when it comes to the numbers, but a general range is between eight and eleven sessions.

  • Less Inflammatory Pigmentation

The treated skin can often swell or turn red following a tattoo removal treatment due to the stress it’s put under. The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology released an article in 2017 claiming that Picosure laser treatments result in fewer side effects.

Cons

  • Struggles With Colour

One of the major drawbacks of using Picosure laser treatments is that it often struggles to remove the colour from tattoos. In fact, it is unable to remove red ink altogether.

  • Clinic Unpredictability

Due to Picosure laser treatment being the newest trend in tattoo removal, many clinics are eager to promote this service. That’s fine, of course, but it does result in inconsistency when it comes to the number of treatments required for a complete tattoo removal.

Above, we mentioned that studies vary when it comes to determining how many sessions are needed. This is partially due to the fact that some clinics will choose their own numbers. This discrepancy between clinics makes it difficult to determine how many sessions are actually needed.
